An Oxford graduate in History, Maggie is passionate about transforming History and Literature from static words on a page into a subject matter that breathes life. With a further Master’s in Acting, she injects energy and charisma into her lessons, making even the most complex material engaging and memorable.
Her time working in London classrooms has provided her with a clear understanding of what it takes to reach and excel in the highest grade bands. As such, her lessons are not only dynamic and immersive but also combine academic rigour and a strong focus on exam technique.
Since 2021, Maggie has channelled her passion for education through both online and in-person tutoring. She has taught History, English Literature, and Drama at GCSE and A Level across all major exam boards, supporting students with a wide range of academic goals and learning styles. She believes that part of her role as a mentor is to nurture students’ academic independence by guiding them in organisation, revision planning, and the management of their study time.
Through her experience working in a secondary school in London, she refined her pedagogical approach and developed a keen eye for marking precision. Maggie’s lessons are resource-rich, drawing on historical sources, literary extracts, and a wide range of multimedia materials to make each session distinctive and engaging.
Maggie’s strategy for success lies in helping students use mark schemes and assessment criteria as a starting point rather than an endpoint, guiding them to recognise what full-mark responses look like and to trace back the steps required to achieve them.
“Maggie was the reason I was able to complete my A levels. I know that would not have been possible without all of her time and support. Thank you so much, Maggie for all the confidence you gave me and all the amazing resources, you are a great teacher and such a kind person!”
‘I’ve been accepted into my first-choice university! Maggie is a huge reason I could be happy on results day”
