+15 years in education
A native French speaker, Anne has devoted her entire life to languages, living in 3 different countries before finally settling in England some 20 years ago. She started her career in marketing and international development working for renowned companies such as Cartier, before quickly putting her business and linguistic skills toward building her own tutoring and translation businesses around 16 years ago.
After securing both her PTLLS (Certificate to teach adults) and her QTS, she devoted all her energy to her own business and left classroom teaching. This was in light of gaining valuable experience with children with additional needs and feeling she could be making a much bigger difference to the younger generation by tutoring 1:1.
Her previous career in business and expertise as a translator means that she has an insight into the relevance and usage of foreign languages in the world of work. To that end, she always reminds her students that learning French (or any other language) is not just about ticking a box for an exam, but is rather a valuable life skill that will open doors and make a difference on their CVs. Taking her mission to shape the future generation of linguists with the utmost seriousness, several of Anne's students have gone on to study French in the most prestigious of English universities.
As a qualified teacher with 16 years of experience, Anne has taught all the key stages within the British curriculum from KS1 to KS5. She has taught students attending a huge array of schools, both state and independent, in England and abroad and has even adopted the role of sole teacher for home-educated children, entering them as private candidates with the AQA exam board. With experience across all exam boards, all Anne’s lessons are bespoke to the needs and objectives of her students as she creates her own resources in line with said needs.
"Anne is an amazing tutor! My daughter’s confidence and ability in French have improved dramatically since Anne has stepped in to tutor her in French GCSE. I would recommend Anne without hesitation: she is warm and kind, responsive to an individual’s requirements and makes learning both fun and meaningful. We feel extremely lucky to have found Anne!"
"Anne is an exceptionally dedicated, professional and helpful tutor. Her obvious passion for the subject is evident in her vast knowledge of the various exam board requirements and her teaching style, where she closely adapts to the needs of each student so as to maximise their potential."
"Anne goes above and beyond to make sure that any areas in need of improvement are mastered, whilst also making the lessons enjoyable. Above all, Anne's commitment and encouragement of each student allows them to make necessary improvements very quickly, and I can personally assert that Anne has given me more help and support than my private school French teachers. Overall, I highly recommend Anne!"
"Anne is truly an excellent French tutor. She's knowledgeable about the subject and always prepares tailored materials. Her expertise in translation is a bonus point as she has special insight into the accurate interpretation of texts, which I find extremely useful. She pays close attention to my pronunciation (which can be difficult considering the nature of online classes) and is always patient with the sounds I struggle to produce."
