Oxbridge Physics Graduate
Robert has been tutoring professionally since 2017, and further to delivering the UK, IB and AP curricula, has taught physics and mathematics at Universities both in the UK and US. Robert firmly believes that, whatever subject you are attempting to master, curiosity is indispensable for long-term success. Learning how to ask questions, and being strict with yourself about the answers you give is how science and maths work best.
Outreach and widening participation are endeavours close to Robert's heart; he regularly speaks to high-school age students about his research, and physics more generally. Outside of his teaching work, Robert is a finishing PhD researcher in particle cosmology who has collaborated on research projects ranging from dark matter interactions with supernovae neutrinos, cosmological phase transitions, and models of the Universe with warped extra dimensions. Robert has also spent time working in plasma physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
Robert has been tutoring A Level Physics and Maths since 2017. In this time he has guided over 50 students online through their A Levels, maths & physics competitions, and university admissions. Notably, one student of Robert’s last year improved from a grade B to an A* in Edexcel International A level Physics from mock exams to finals.
He is also expert in both the MAT and PAT entrance exams, and more broadly Oxbridge admissions and interview preparation, boasting an impressive track record of successful applicants.
"Robert is a remarkable tutor. His A-level Physics lessons with my daughter became events to be looked forward to; not only were they carefully and efficiently prepared but genuinely engaging as he has an unusual ability to explain difficult concepts with clarity and enthusiasm. So many thanks!"
"Robert’s knowledge of Physics and Maths is outstanding, but most importantly he is able to share his passion for the subject which encouraged my daughter to develop and extend her own involvement beyond the syllabus. At the end of the year, she won the Physics prize and is now looking forward to continuing tuition with both Maths and Physics next academic term."
"Rob taught me physics for 4 months in the build-up to my A levels. He was a phenomenal teacher, who took his time to explain complex concepts using many methods until I understood them. I went from a B in January to an A* in my final A level, and it would not have been possible without his help. I definitely recommend Rob to any student looking to achieve top grades in Physics."
